That’s right. Spidercar.
Now that I’ve shown you that, I may as well update. Not much has been happening really, with little happening at either Uni / the car / the social life. Kinda in a lull I suppose. One thing that is new however is a new-found appreciation for home made or ‘traditional’ pizzas. Really way more tasty than the fat factory things made by Eagleboys or the worst pizza company ever, Dominos.
After my electoral work a little while back I went on a bit of a spending bender and bought myself a new keyboard. A Saitek Eclipse gaming keyboard. I grabbed some pics:
Its a damn fine piece of equipment, and I’m especially liking the backlit keys and volume controls. Its a lot quieter than my old keyboard as well, the keys are soft but firm.
Check this out. This is the best, and worst, Super Mario level I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe the guy actually keeps going with it. I was really feeling for the guy after a few failed attempts at certain jumps.
Its pretty long however so unless you’re bored don’t bother.
Damnit however, my bLog just crashed after Dreamhost got hit with a DoS attack on its DNS servers, and I had like 2 pages worth of blog written out too. Anyway, I got back tonight from driving to Melbourne to pick up mum from the airport after her holiday. She brought me gifts too, which was awesome. In light of the subject, I got a 1 litre bottle of Absolut Vodka Mandarin which I usually mix with coke/pepsi, a Welsh and Scottish flag, 2 small bottles of whisky, and as a big surprise, the latest TopGear Magazine with the included ‘TopGear: The Challenges’ best of DVD. Its an absolutely awesome Mag too, its 300 pages and costs £3.90. Pretty damn cheap if you ask me. The problem is I checked how much it is for a full subscription, and the total cost I was quoted was AU$230 and more for 13 issues.
In my drive to and from Melbourne today I was also training myself in concentration, I’ve been marathonning the 4 hour drive each time to test my concentration levels over time. So far so good, only a couple of small lapses which I could easily recognise and snap out of. On the way back however there was none and I’ve been alive and awake as anything since we got back at 12:30am. I’m now just watching Iron Chef to try to tire myself out and crash.
Speaking of tyres and crash, the FTO needs a new set of 4 before I understeer into another car through a corner. At the moment I’ll probably be going with some advice I was given on the FTO Aus forums and getting Hankook 104’s. Apparently they’re very good for the price.
Well, hopefully I can sleep now. Probably not though, bah.
Mum comes back from her Holiday tomorrow, and I’m driving to Melbourne to pick her up at 7pm tomorrow night. As such I’ve moved back into my room from the dining table where I previously was. However, I picked myself up a set of Logitech X-530 5.1 Speakers to accompany my PC. I had moved my old speakers to the Xbox a while back and my PC was lacking. Also with all my Hardstyle listening I definately needed something better than my old speakers. Here’s my new setup back in my room:
Well, getting sleepy now after my 3 Smirnoff Ice Double Blacks. Nighty night.
Tonight I watched a couple movies, those being Smoking Aces, and The Illusionist. Both, were absolutely awesome. Smoking Aces is definitely the best action film I’ve seen in quite a while, with tons of plot lines which overlap each other and become intertwined. It also had great action, great characters, and a surprisingly good amount of character depth for each one. Some of the character depth is assumed, however some of them go into great detail and give small stereotypical factors for each one whilst introducing certain quirks for each as well.
As for The Illusionist, it had good acting for the most part, however there was some very static acting by a couple of children, and as in The Prestige, they have used CGI to show off the main characters special trick. I would have found it better if in both movies the writers actually came up with a special trick which could truly be performed, but revealed. The Illusionist was a good movie, and was actually more of a love story than a mystery flick. It didn’t come together as well as Smoking Aces, which was a real suprise.
I’ve been watching those whilst doing this terrible terrible assignment for Uni actually, and boy is it an awful awful assignment. This is an example question:
5. Architectural Views
This section enumerates the views that are necessary for describing the software architecture for the current system. Explain how documentation is organized and enclose by reference the documents describing these views.
What am I meant to do with that, honestly. This is just ‘lawyerese’ (as dubbed by my friend) and then applied to project management. I couldn’t think of anything worse. What makes this particular example question worse, is I have no idea what these ‘reference documents’ are.
Oh well, I’m sure I’ll get it figured out tomorrow with the rest of the group. Wait, I should say today.
Had a great couple of days really, nothing but good friends good food and of course, good drink. Had a good friends 18th on Thursday, and afterwards was a 2 day LAN with some more good friends.
I’ve started drinking Smirnoff Ice Double Blacks as my drink of choice now too, they’re just so overly tangy as an after-taste, and the lemony sweet flavour really appeals to my sweet tooth. The only other drink I’m now partial to is Black Russians. Vodka beats all.
On the other hand however, I have a Uni assignment due before 12noon this Thursday which currently sucks hard. Its overly and pointlessly complex but I have to admit, its a Project management assignment, so its kind of expected. At the moment however I would really prefer to move into town and share a place, get a simple part time job and defer Uni for a year. Even just doing Uni part time would be fine.
