Late night blog entry #2007.02.27.3.15

Category: FTO, Personal, Studyoodles @ 2:13 am

Seems I just get into thinking moods late at night.

Start back at Uni tomorrow (wait, today), not really looking forward to it that much, but at least its only going to be 3 hours long with breaks. Wish it wasn’t from 11 to 1 though, talk about some stupid times for classes. They could have at least made it from like 1-4pm or something.

Been really enjoying the FTO lately too with its all red lit interior. I’m really enjoying climate control too, seeing how good this one is. Warms/cools you in no time and takes the air from either the inside or outside of the car depending on which is hotter or cooler in comparison to your desired temp. Very fun if you set it on about 25*C and let it do its thing. I’m loving how the thing looks at night too. Under a streetlight its curves get shown off perfectly and the midnight blue turns into basically a charcoal black. Looks great in my opinion.

I’ve also decided to keep the FTO for at least 4-5 years, at the least. I haven’t had a single car for that long and I want to see the results of having it for so long, be it an impact on my driving, my skills with the car, or something different. Just something to try out and see what’s what. I sure picked a nice car to spend 5 years in though if I do say so myself. :P

My mate from Perth is over here for a week and a half and boy has he changed. Damn good to catch up though. I think the thing that surprises people the most is that the physical appearance changes, but the mental attitudes rarely do and you’ll find yourselves laughing at the same old jokes you used to.

I also ordered my PC parts yesterday, everything but the videocard as I’m waiting on some funds from buyers of my sold stuff. Im getting a loaner videocard from a mate though for the time being so that’s gonna be sweet. Big thanks to him.

Well, that’s about all for this random 3am post. I need to take more pics and upload them to my gallery.

Im having music withdrawals

Category: Newsoodles @ 1:27 am

The only HDD not plugged into the server is my Music HDD, and I’m doing nothing but listening to Node streaming radio all day. Kinda gets annoying after a while though, not having all your songs on tap. Upgrade should be ordered on Monday the 26th at this stage, depending on if I get hit with Nigerians scammers again or not. I sold my Dreamcast on eBay you see, and I got the following email straight afterward: (Name removed, even if it is a scammer I don’t like posting peoples details)

DEAR SELLER,

I XXXX XXX FROM USA,

PLEASE I WANT TO PURCHASE THIS ITEM FOR MY RELATIVE WHO IS IN NIGERIA . I WILL LOVE YOU CALCULATE THE SHIPPING COST OF THE ITEM TO GET TO NIGERIA VIA DHL , AUSTRALIAN POST (AIRMAIL). OR YOU CAN CALCULATE IT VIA AUSPOST.COM.AU OR I WILL  CALCUATE AND PAY FOR IT PAY YOU FOR IT

PAYMENT IS VIA PAYPAL.

Address: Pythagoras College: Plot 150 Oba Ogunji Road                  (opposite Total Filling Station)

I’m sure trusting of this. I immediately re-listed the item. Pissed me off though, as the DC had 6 watchers before the scammer ‘bought’ it and now its got 1. I’m just hoping that the previous watchers are just not actually ‘watching’ the re-listed item, just waiting for it instead without having clicked the ‘watch item’ button.

I r lazy updater

Category: News, Playoodles @ 11:29 pm

Man, been some time since I posted here. A fair amount has been happening.

The FTO is going great, aside from a ‘clunk’ in the back which seems to have absolutely no relation to any other car action, like accelerating, braking, turning, or even going over bumps. I seriously don’t understand what is making this sound. Anyway, it passed a blue slip check with this clunk so it can’t be anything fatal. I’ll just get it looked at when it goes in for its 113k service.

On the study front, I’ve started Cisco CCNA again, that started last Wednesday, was actually fun to be back at TAFE doing something. Next Tuesday I start at Uni as well, and I’m not really looking forward to that crap. More cold days with bad & overpriced food. Ugh. I won’t be doing good classes either, which makes things even BETTER! :x

In other news, a mate from Highschool who moved away for a few years will be coming back for a holiday very soon, will be great to catch up with him.

I’ve almost finished making all my sales from my old PC too. Should be getting the following with the profits of this within the week:

  • Intel CORE 2 DUO E6400/ 2.13GHz/ 2MB CACHE/ 1066FSB/ LGA775
  • Asus P5N32-E-SLI motherboard
  • Corsair DDR2 2GB PC-6400 (2x XMS2 1GB) TWIN2X2048-6400C4 RAM
  • Gainward 8800GTS 550mhz Golden Sample 640Mb PCI-E

and a PCI IDE card seeing as IDE was somehow decided to be dropped from motherboards of late. This upgrade should last me for another couple of years however so that’s the main thing. Looks good, and I can’t wait for the crazy performance it will entail.

Well, eyes are sore and that just about covers everything I can think of so I’ll end it there. :)

Whee!

Category: News, Play, Workoodles @ 2:15 am

I get the FTO re-registered tomorrow, which of course is a good thing. :) Funny though, my local mechanic did the blue slip for me and after doing a couple of small adjustments like giving the underbody a wash took it in to the RTA for its inspection. It had no mechanical problems, but was failed on the first attempt because of… bet you can’t guess… the brake pedal cover. I took a picture of it today after I heard about this hilarious knockback. Click to see a larger pic. Basically down the bottom right there of the rubber you can see its worn through in a tiny hole where it naturally wears as you change your foot from brake to throttle. Even my mechanic was pissed off because it just wasted HIS time more than anything. Great mechanic though, gonna stay with him until he retires.

The team has been going well too, couple wins for the Day Of Defeat: Source boys over the least week. Pity CS:S players are such randoms and don’t seem to have any commitment to a team. Otherwise we’d have a team already up and running.
We’ve been going on a fair few cruises and events too, dinners and the like. Need more though, as I’m tired of gaming in general. With not much on the horizon its not high on my list of priorities any more. More high up is getting on with life, but the best part of gaming is that its something you can completely stop and come back to whenever without much of a loss, so I’m not leaving for good just not caring so much as I did before.

I’ve also started reading a new webcomic, aka I saw it tonight and now its bookmarked. Its basically a woman’s diary in comic form, from a comic artist. Its called Planet Karen and its a simple comic with not much to it. Its just something that you can look at to see how other people simply are coping with the world, and its worth a look if you have the time.

Going to the Cricket tomorrow too, for the first Final at the MCG, finally making use of our memberships to the G. From the forecast its going to be a great day weather wise too, with a predicted top of 26 degrees. Gonna stay overnight this time though, driving back at midnight was okay, but only because I slept on the way up and then could do a marathon drive on the way back from outside Seymour all the way to Wodonga. Should be alright, Melbourne is always better than Albury-Wodonga to hang around in.

I think I need to get myself a job now however simply a part of the ‘master plan’ I have for my life, and also to cope with all the ideas I have for the FTO and leisure in general. Plus I’m not doing anything important at the moment, including Uni. Its not going to help me with anything for at least a year, so if I find myself a nice paying job and a place to live then I think I’d take charge of my life completely.
