Sleep schedule is broken again

Category: FTO, News, Opinion, Play, Study, Workoodles @ 6:05 am

Well, when isn’t it broken. :P

I’m sleeping to 4pm from 6am nearly every day. Starts to get annoying actually but getting back into a normal one always screws me over terribly for about 3 days of nothing but tired eyes and sleepy days. Its a real pain to do but I suppose I’ll have to. While driving around tonight the FTO’s front right low-beam globe blew, or at least thats what I think has happened, I have high beams still but no light when I’m driving around on lows. I shouldn’t have any problems however fixing it, in fact I may just buy a brand new light.

The Job at CSU is actually a lot of fun, and the work is actually interesting. Pity its so damn cold where I am, otherwise I would have no issues with it whatsoever. The Boss has gone overseas for a couple of weeks however so no shifts coming up for a little while but it doesn’t bother me. I still have to look around for a second one however so I can get on with life in general. eg: move out / party / etc.

I’ve wanted to move out for a while now, and after a couple of weeks alone a few months back I realised I liked living alone or at least quite independently. I got an offer of a house in town however theres no garage and a few other factors. I was all for it until I realised about the garage, that is an absolute must for me with the insurance policy for the FTO stipulating a garage specifically as well as me just wanting it to protect the FTO. I’ve really been enjoying driving it lately with some very nice corners and all its features. I was driving around the other day really sitting tightly in the semi-racing seats, was really fun and they make a big difference for simple semi-done factory seats.

On a strange note, Red Rooster is starting to quickly become my favourite fast food outlet, its got great tasting simple food, and the fish of all things is damn nice too which was the biggest surprise of all. Haven’t been doing much lately now that I think about it, but the absolute relief of simply having a job and no study is so worth quitting Uni its ridiculous. If you’re thinking of quitting and just going to work, do it, do it immediately.

Lanning, like I mentioned a while ago hasn’t gotten much better of late, and from the looks of things, is going down the drain altogether. Lucky I’ve started to become more interested in my car than the PC. I still spend a ton of time on it, but now that I have the cash to start work on the car I think I’m going to dedicate a lot more time to it rather than the PC. I’m still waiting for UT3 and maybe ET:QW as there is Tribes code already up and running in the game engine, but still its taking a back seat. If lanning does die I’ll simply disband the lan side completely.

On the subject of food, I’ve really started to like Soup on these cold winter days a hell of a lot especially the chunky soups which have to be a piece of marketing and culinary genius in my opinion. Oh and in a random move that I and others have hated, it appears Coles / Safeway / Supermarkets around here have stopped selling Milka chocolate. What the hell is going on, I demand my damn nice chocolate for cheap! Bah.

I’ve been listening to Digitally Imported a hell of a lot at the moment including when Im going to sleep on the laptop. I’ve even gone back to listening to DJ Reign’s dark trance mixes. Absolutely nothing else comes close to the awesomeness that is electronic music now. Metal now almost infuriates me with its human elements and its thrashing away on the pots and pans. Electronic stuff is unbiased, has no opinions on world events, and it can just be ‘your’ music.

I suppose I should sleep now, if I can. I was in bed at about 1am and its 6am now. Spent 5 hours lying around trying to sleep then making this entry. Oh wel, it looks like I wrote way too much anyway.

Algebreic!

Category: FTO, News, Personal, Play, Studyoodles @ 10:46 am

I have no idea if that’s how you spell that word, if it even is a word.

I’ve currently got the worst sleeping schedule / pattern possible, whereby I sleep all day and am up all night. Over the past few days, I’ve been waking up at 5-6:30pm and then going to sleep at 10am or later, repeat. On Thursday however I woke up at 5:30pm and stayed up throughout the night until 6pm on Friday. Surprisingly I was very alert throughout the day until I did some physical activity. During the day on Friday however I found two very good Mothers day gifts, both at the last moment too so it was a real bonus. I gave them to her today and they went down a treat. :)

Along with a mates recent blogging about crappy stuff happening to his car, I had a kinda bad day on Friday for the fact that someone threw chewing gum on my bonnet, and I found white car door marks either side of the FTO. I can tell people don’t like the way I drive, but why attack my car, cant people have the decency to confront me about it instead of going after my car? This doesn’t encourage me to change my driving style, this tells me that people are cowards. I also found scratches on my mirrors, so now I’m going to fold them in everywhere I go and park. God I hate people as a whole.

After Saturdays LAN I’m also considering ceasing Lanning altogether. There’s barely a point anymore when nothing but DOTA gets played. It’s absolutely ridiculous now how badly its taking over the LAN. I finished PREY, the entire game, in the time it took for the rest of the guys to do 2 DOTA maps. All I hear from them while they’re playing it is complaints, annoyances, and provocation. All it does is piss people off and for some reason people haven’t realised that this doesn’t happen in other games anywhere near as much. Oh well. Lanning is now almost unnecessary to me nowadays. Nobody has anything good to share and there’s not going to be anything worth playing at them for some time. At the moment I’m doing it purely for a social aspect.

Going to the V8 Supercars next weekend at the moment, I just hope my sleeping habits are somewhat in the norm by that stage so I can get up at the right time. I heard on the radio this morning that Brad Jones (Albury’s local V8 Supercars driver) will be retiring after this year, so going to go see him race will be a good thing to see, he probably won’t be in the next season at this rate.

I’ve also been thinking about my career and future for a little while. With my extreme distaste of Uni, I’ve been thinking about going back to TAFE and doing more in the way of a career as a Chef. Computers and IT are alright, but they kind of bore me with their possibilities. Chef’ing however has almost unlimited possibilities and that’s what interests me. So now I have a conundrum whereby I choose a) a job which I know I can do in a repetitive environment in comfortable working conditions, or b) a job which has bad working conditions but could almost never become repetitive due to the flexibility of the job and career paths available. I dunno, I’ll have to think long and very hard about it.

Better sleep, its 10:45am and I’m going to get up at 2pm.

Tonight I watched a couple movies, those being Smoking Aces, and The Illusionist. Both, were absolutely awesome. Smoking Aces is definitely the best action film I’ve seen in quite a while, with tons of plot lines which overlap each other and become intertwined. It also had great action, great characters, and a surprisingly good amount of character depth for each one. Some of the character depth is assumed, however some of them go into great detail and give small stereotypical factors for each one whilst introducing certain quirks for each as well.

As for The Illusionist, it had good acting for the most part, however there was some very static acting by a couple of children, and as in The Prestige, they have used CGI to show off the main characters special trick. I would have found it better if in both movies the writers actually came up with a special trick which could truly be performed, but revealed. The Illusionist was a good movie, and was actually more of a love story than a mystery flick. It didn’t come together as well as Smoking Aces, which was a real suprise.

I’ve been watching those whilst doing this terrible terrible assignment for Uni actually, and boy is it an awful awful assignment. This is an example question:

5. Architectural Views
This section enumerates the views that are necessary for describing the software architecture for the current system. Explain how documentation is organized and enclose by reference the documents describing these views.

What am I meant to do with that, honestly. This is just ‘lawyerese’ (as dubbed by my friend) and then applied to project management. I couldn’t think of anything worse. What makes this particular example question worse, is I have no idea what these ‘reference documents’ are. :x

Oh well, I’m sure I’ll get it figured out tomorrow with the rest of the group. Wait, I should say today.

Funfun

Category: Opinion, Studyoodles @ 2:13 am

Had a great couple of days really, nothing but good friends good food and of course, good drink. Had a good friends 18th on Thursday, and afterwards was a 2 day LAN with some more good friends.

I’ve started drinking Smirnoff Ice Double Blacks as my drink of choice now too, they’re just so overly tangy as an after-taste, and the lemony sweet flavour really appeals to my sweet tooth. The only other drink I’m now partial to is Black Russians. Vodka beats all.

On the other hand however, I have a Uni assignment due before 12noon this Thursday which currently sucks hard. Its overly and pointlessly complex but I have to admit, its a Project management assignment, so its kind of expected. At the moment however I would really prefer to move into town and share a place, get a simple part time job and defer Uni for a  year. Even just doing Uni part time would be fine.

‘Tasty tasty courage!’

Good old Aloha Mars.

I’ve gotten my parts and its all up & running awesome right now. Only issue I have is that I can’t get the IDE card working properly, so I’m running on only two hard drives at the moment. Oh well, I wanted it for games, and that’s what I’ve got. So far I haven’t found a game that I haven’t been able to run in 1280*1024 8xAA 8xAF every detail maximum and under 60fps, so I’m extremely happy with it.

From this Wednesday I have the house to myself for around 3 weeks too. I’m gonna be moving out into the dining room with the PC and the laptop and basically set myself up a crazy media centre. Actually, I’ll post up a photo when I’m out there and fully set up.

Gotta get the FTO a service too, its on around 113,100kms at the moment so its a little overdue. I was reminded about it because I have to go into town today to find out about my graduation, its tomorrow and I have no idea what time and how formal its meant to be. Seems like more of a bother than something to look forward to, but hey.

Late night blog entry #2007.02.27.3.15

Category: FTO, Personal, Studyoodles @ 2:13 am

Seems I just get into thinking moods late at night.

Start back at Uni tomorrow (wait, today), not really looking forward to it that much, but at least its only going to be 3 hours long with breaks. Wish it wasn’t from 11 to 1 though, talk about some stupid times for classes. They could have at least made it from like 1-4pm or something.

Been really enjoying the FTO lately too with its all red lit interior. I’m really enjoying climate control too, seeing how good this one is. Warms/cools you in no time and takes the air from either the inside or outside of the car depending on which is hotter or cooler in comparison to your desired temp. Very fun if you set it on about 25*C and let it do its thing. I’m loving how the thing looks at night too. Under a streetlight its curves get shown off perfectly and the midnight blue turns into basically a charcoal black. Looks great in my opinion.

I’ve also decided to keep the FTO for at least 4-5 years, at the least. I haven’t had a single car for that long and I want to see the results of having it for so long, be it an impact on my driving, my skills with the car, or something different. Just something to try out and see what’s what. I sure picked a nice car to spend 5 years in though if I do say so myself. :P

My mate from Perth is over here for a week and a half and boy has he changed. Damn good to catch up though. I think the thing that surprises people the most is that the physical appearance changes, but the mental attitudes rarely do and you’ll find yourselves laughing at the same old jokes you used to.

I also ordered my PC parts yesterday, everything but the videocard as I’m waiting on some funds from buyers of my sold stuff. Im getting a loaner videocard from a mate though for the time being so that’s gonna be sweet. Big thanks to him.

Well, that’s about all for this random 3am post. I need to take more pics and upload them to my gallery.
